TIRUNELVELI UNION

The Tirunelveli Milk Union comprises Tirunelveli and Tenkasi Districts. It comprises 169 Primary Milk Producers Co-operative Societies and has 6995 members. It has 2 Chilling Centre namely Sankarankoil and Valliyoor and 2 Bulk milk Coolers namely Panneeroothu and Pillaiyarkulam. From these units, milk is procured, tested, chilled, and taken to the Main dairy by tankers. In the main dairy, the milk has been received and tested for quality. The dairy prepares Toned Milk, Standardized Milk, and Full Cream Milk hygienically and packed in 160 ml, 250 ml, 500 ml, and 1000 ml sachets and sold in chilled condition at the prescribed rates. This packed milk was sold to the public through 250 and more agents. One Hi-tech Parlour and 25 Parlours are also running well for selling milk and milk products. The excess milk procured daily is being sent to Erode and Madurai for conversion. From the Tuticorin union, milk is taken and pasteurized and sachets were made and sent again to the Tuticorin union for sales. In this union, value-added by-products of milk i.e. Milk Peda, Milk Cake, Ghee, Curd, Mysorepa, Kulfi, Dry Nut Mix, Ghee Halwa are also made and along with Federation milk products Ice-cream and other milk products.
