Agriculture is the main source of sustenance for a majority of the population. Dryland farming which is predominant suffers badly due to frequent monsoon failure, affecting agricultural production. The predominant soil type of Pudukkottai is red loam. About one-fourth of the area suffers from being salinity/alkalinity. Aavin stays as a boom for farmers with 354 societies and 11512 members thereby supporting and improving the lives of farmers and animals.

Our Focus:

Improve Collection and distribution platform for high-quality milk consistently.

Way for Future:

Shortage of green fodder mainly by increasing human pressure on land for production of cereal grains, oilseeds, and pulses. To meet this increasing demand for green fodder, one of the alternatives is hydroponic fodder to supplement the major pasture resources. Making a way for access to improved feed and fodder. Thereby enhancing milk quality, productivity, and producer welfare.

Our contributions to Farmers:

  • Supporting and motivating farmers by livestock insurance schemes. Treating the milch animals owned by the members specifically on an emergency basis. Vaccination and treatment of infertility cases by Conducting Health Camps. Insemination for producing better offspring.

  • Conducting awareness for clean milk production, the importance of quality milk,  feeding mineral mixture,  ectoparasite control, summer management,  management of storing feeds, and scientific animal management.

  • Regular Monitoring, surveillance, and investigation of Health threats throughout the district by veterinarians.
